Equipment List & Meal Information
The following Equipment List is for your use to prepare for this reenactment. If you/your unit is interested in participating, please print or download the equipment list.
In addition David Decker, from the Lee County Light Horse (1st U.S. Dragoons/Cavalry and 1st South Carolina) out of central and low country South Carolina, had prepared a document to help pack a horse for campaigning. This reference was used successfully for both Morgan's Raids and Potter's Raid. It is a worthy reference for this event as well as Brandy Station in June. Please feel free to print and download this document as well.

Equipment list for
STUART’S DELAY & BUFORD’S RECONNAISSANCE
145th Gettysburg Cavalry Campaign
You will be living out of the saddle for three days! You will have to carry everything you will need for both you and your horse. This is a recommended list. If you do not need some of the personal items – fine, leave them behind and lighten your load. But do not bring more! You will not have to bring food for you and your horse. Just like Stuart and Buford’s men, you will be forced to forage for food and fodder (the organizers will make certain you are successful).
□ Plate, cup, silverware
□ Haversack – used to carry food and small personal item, not cloths
□ Personal items: Bible, writing material, soap, matches, toilet paper, etc,,,
□ A dry pair of socks (wool is the best) and one extra shirt
□ Sleeping blanket(s) (not bag), Great coat or overcoat makes a good blanket
□ Ground cloth or extra poncho/gum blanket, Roll around blanket, spare socks, shirt, etc. and pack on the saddle behind the cantle.
□ Poncho, packed on the pommel (with your coat). This should be available in case of rain and to loop your reins over when dismounted. It will help prevent the reins from falling over your horses head and causing an accident.
□ Shelter half or substitute and extra gum blanket
□ Canteen – at least one
□ Halter and lead strap
□ Link strap (required for dismounted fighting)
□ Nose bag – good for carrying grain, your food, grooming tools, etc..: also will be needed as a water bucket. Note: all grain and hay for horses will be provided
□ Grooming brush, hoof pick, and canvas water bucket (dip water only for horses)
□ An extra front and rear horse shoe with extra nails – pack in inside panels of saddle bags
□ Supplies to clean weapons in the field.
Items to be shared by 3 or 4 man section or rank:
□ 30-50 foot rope for picket lines (Picket lines will not be provided)
